Paramount, 1986. Original large scale, hyper-realistic model miniature F-14 Tomcat fighter jet. Of the several miniatures created for practical FX in the classic film, this is believed to be the largest surviving. Constructed of wood, plastic, cast fiberglass, metal and mixed media elements, and expertly studio painted in industrial military gray and finished to appear as a full-sized, functional fighter jet. With realistic decal badging including VF-1 Eagle symbol on the back tail fins, the numbers "114" on left and right of nose cone, and other American insignias and hallmarks. Retaining holes in the back fuselage, left and right wing, and nose cone presumed for hanging the piece in production and for display. Outfitted on the bottom with a metal plate that affixes to a professionally made 46 x 17 x 17 in. display stand with "Top Gun" text logo on the front. The iconic model measures 64 in. from wingtip to wingtip, 73 in from nose cone to tail, and 19 in. from bottom to tip of fin. Exhibiting age, production wear, rubbing to paint, and with the cockpit shell cracked and missing an approximately 2 x .5 in. piece at the very front of cockpit.
