Mattias Norström was drafted by the New York Rangers 1992, 2nd round, 48th overall from AIK (Stockholm).  However, he is most noted for his ten seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Kings for whom he served as team captain from 2001–2007 and was the team's first non-North American-born captain. Strong on his skates, Norstrom was quietly one of the league's top defensive defensemen.   This eye appealing Norstrom Los Angeles Kings 2002 playoffs photo matched game used jersey is one of a kind. This jersey has the AM patch to remember the two men who passed during the tragedy on 911, Ace Bailey and Mark Bavis. On the left chest is the Los Angeles All Star game patch as the Kings hosted the best players in the world that season.  The Captain’s C is a nice treat to go along with this being used in the 2002 playoffs as denoted by King’s long time equipment man, Peter Millar. The patch has the playoff information on it along with his initials PM circled. Some small board burns and stick marks on the sleeves and nice fraying of the numbers on the back and arms. The letter from Kings Vice President Dave Taylor is included with this jersey. The jersey was worn for three playoff games in Los Angeles on April 22nd, 23rd and in game six on April 27th. The Colorado Avalanche backed by Patrick Roy, took the Kings in seven games to end their season.  This was the only home jersey issued for the playoffs. Peter Millar told us that they would get a new set for each series, but they never made it past the quarter finals in 2002. Nice photo matches taken during all 3 games of series, adds to this eye-catching Captain’s jersey.  Mattias Norström played in the NHL for fourteen seasons, 903 games, scoring 18 goals, 147 assists and 661 penalty minutes.  He was undeniably a warrior.
