Very hard to find Jofa stick used by Alexander Yakushev. He was one of the top players during the 1972 Summit Series and his sticks are near impossible to find. This style was used during the very early seventies before Jofa was purchased by Canadien. It has an unreal amount of Fibreglass wrap all around the blade, showing no signs of ever being taped. The blade has a tiny piece missing at the bottom tip and a couple of chips at the top showing good use with stick and puck marks mainly on the front. The stick is cracked on the shaft where the Pentalglass Model graphics reside. The stick is very solid and is not in any way corrupted by the crack. Yakushev name stamp up near the butt end tape which shows lots of wear. Grab this famous Russian players stick as we have not seen another of his anywhere on line. This stick comes from the Brian Logie collection. Brian, from London Ontario Canada, toured all over the country for international tournaments and acquired many sticks during those trips. Born in Moscow, Soviet Union, Alexander Yakushev is best known to North American hockey fans as one of the stars for the Soviet team that played Team Canada in the famous 1972 Summit Series. His style of play was atypical of his colleagues who were fast and skilled; he was often described as the equivalent of Canada's Phil Esposito. Although often overshadowed by his famous teammate Valeri Kharlamov, by the end of the Summit Series, Yakushev led the Soviets in scoring with 7 goals and 4 assists for 11 points. He has also played in numerous Olympic and World Championship tournaments, winning Olympic gold in 1972 and 1976 and having been crowned World Champion seven times. Yakushev was inducted into the in 2003. On June 26, 2018, it was announced that he would be inducted into the November 12, 2018, joining fellow Summit Series teammates Vladislav Tretiak and Valeri Kharlamov.
