The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Original Clapperboard

An original clapperboard from the production of Jonathan Demme's Oscar-winning thriller The Silence of the Lambs. Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out. The clapperboard consists of an acrylic slate with a wooden clapper fixed to the top. The film’s title, “The Silence of the Lambs” runs along the top, and the film’s Director, Jonathan Demme, and the film’s cinematographer, Tak Fujimoto, are outlined in black just at the bottom of the slate. Two fields for scene and take are outlined in black, and feature faintly written details in black ink, including "52M" and "3". The names of director Jonathan Demme and director of photography Tak Fujimoto are situated below, and the date is marked as "2.2.90". The clapperboard displays signs of production use, including scuffing to the paint on the arm, light scratches to the acrylic and loss of black ink where it has rubbed away in places over time. This item comes with an LOA from a producer of the film (Ken Utt) and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions.
