Vou Lee Giokaris Porgy and Bess Production Bible

Porgy and Bess, 1959, Columbia. Production used costumer's bible consisting of (23) handwritten and annotated pages breaking down wardrobe changes for individual characters including "Bess" (Dorothy Dandridge), "Maria" (Pearl Bailey), "Clara" (Diahann Carroll) and various other cast members from director Otto Preminger's film adaptation of the stage musical. Among these pages are (34) 4 x 5 in. black and white continuity photographs of cast members in costume, as well as various swatches of reference fabric samples affixed with tape onto the pages. Also included is the complete 99-page Porgy and Bess screenplay by N. Richard Nash, which includes various blue revised pages dated "7/25/58" throughout. Presented in a studio bound black binder stenciled "Vou Lee Giokaris / COSTUMER" in white lettering. Exhibiting handling and expected age, with minor tears and creasing to the handwritten sheets, and residual tape remnants to some of the pages. Measuring approx. 11.5 x 10 in. In production used vintage good to very good condition.
