Gilles Gilbert was drafted in 1969 by the Minnesota North Stars in the 3rd round, 25th overall from the London Knights of the OHL.  While playing for the Minnesota North Stars, he surrendered 's 500th career goal on February 11, 1971.  In , he was traded to the Bruins as a replacement for . Upon his arrival in Boston for the 1973-74 campaign, Gilbert made an immediate impact between the pipes, earning a place in that season's NHL All-Star Game, while helping lead the Black & Gold to the 1974 Stanley Cup Final, which Boston lost in six games to the Philadelphia Flyers. Gilbert was 34-12-8 with a 2.96 goals against average and .901 save percentage during the regular season. Gilbert's time with the Bruins proved to be very successful when he recorded  by a goaltender with 17 and set an NHL record, finishing with a .843 winning percentage in 55 games in one season, and is ranked sixth in all-time playoff wins among Boston goaltenders.  He had a remarkable career in the NHL spanning 14 seasons, he played in 416 regular season games, achieved 18 shutouts and 3.27 goals against average. This beautiful Gilles Gilbert 1974-75 Wilson durene photo matched jersey is a perfect example of a Boston Bruins jersey of the era. 75 written in marker on the Wilson tag represents the 1974-75 season with the size in pen now heavily faded but upon closer inspection, reads 56.  Starting that season, the Bruins had their familiar gold accents removed from the shoulders.  In the photo matches, you can see the only time their Wilson jerseys had no shoulder patches with the V neck style.  The press photo shows the first match in the form of both sides of the collar where the white thread pattern ends flow into the black, having the exact amount of small ends and distance from the collar. All Bruins jerseys are sewn differently in this area, and many are matched in this fashion. The next match, as Gilbert is about to replace his mask comes from Getty Image #78934317.  All the puckering on the spokes of the Bruins crest matches up exactly especially the bottom spoke as well as it being in the same position in relation to the V neck collar. Other added photos are of this jersey with no shoulder accents and no Bruins patch in V neck style, but can't be conclusively matched. Blood stains are evident on the left shoulder, while down the left arm, red goal post paint covers the elbow where two circular Bruins style repairs also reside.  Fraying and stick marks and material runs down that same left arm and at the cuff. The front has light stick and puck marks while the hem has curled up from many washings and use.  The right arm has more goal post paint, heavy material runs, stick marks and an unrepaired slice to go along with a really nice large repair near the number 1.  The back has a really nice repair above the first black line just above the seem with the fight strap sewn into the base of Gilberts famed number 1.  The inside shows major pilling under both arms and elbows, balling up of material from a white undershirt, more blood stains, many loose threads and the remnants of a cut out fight strap. Amazing and perfect jersey to add to any Bruins, goalie, or vintage collection.
