Fred “Buster” Harvey was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1970, 2nd round, 17th overall from the Hamilton Red Wings of the OHA. He played the 1970-71 season with the Stars, was sent down to the Cleveland Barons in 1971-72, and then spent the next two seasons with the Stars. His best NHL season was 1972-73 when he scored 21 goals and 34 assists. In 1974 he was traded to the Atlanta Flames. This is a beautifully hammered vintage game used defunct heavy durene jersey that Buster Harvey wore during the Atlanta Flames 1974-75 NHL season. It has been photo matched as well. It shows season long use with black stick marks all over the crest and chest with several more on the bottom hem to go along with red board paint marks, board burns and some unrepaired holes. The left arm continues with very heavy black stick marks, material runs, scrapes, board burns and two nice repairs along the seem. The right arm shows more black stick marks, material burns and several unrepaired holes and a nice repair on the shoulder. The back has a small repair near the top and a couple unrepaired holes. The crest and numbers all show fraying, loose threads and general filth from use. All the identifiers are soft from being washed many times. The fight strap has been removed from the jersey but the stitching lines remain just under the number 8. Inside this vintage jersey, the Rawlings tag size 48 tag is partially torn but is still well sewn in and the elbows show pilling and material runs. Harveys 1975 hockey card seems to show the over sewing of the front collar but we can not say it's a photo match. The card is included with the jersey. Hard to find road red Flames jersey with this type of wear and the nice crest is very appealing to most vintage collectors. There hasn't been many for sale in several years so add this one to your collection. Fred Harvey retired in 1978, he played in 407 games, scored 90 goals, 118 assists. In his honour, after his passing, the Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton was renamed after him and longtime friend Danny Grant. Originally named after only Grant, he behest that Buster's name be added as well.
