"Groot" Early Concept Maquette

Guardians of the Galaxy, 2006, Marvel. Production made “Groot" character maquette constructed of modeling clay over a wire armature, with textural design embellishments added for enhancement of presentation, and “D. Platt 2006" hand-carved onto a spread of clay by character's feet. Created by renowned character model artist Dan Platt, the maquette explores “Groot" in a hunched pose. Platt's work on this piece predates the release of Guardians of the Galaxy by almost a decade, offering a glimpse into the development of the character. The figure measures 8.5 x 13.5 x 8 in. and is affixed to a custom wooden base measuring 11.25 x 8.5 in. Exhibiting expected aging, wear, cracks, and some material loss due to use and handling. In fair to good condition.
