Vintage caricature artwork by Xavier Cugat accomplished in graphite, watercolor and gouache on 20 x 15.25 in. artists leaf, signed lower right beneath image, “Para el amigo Danny un verdadero artista Cugat 1940." Cugat was a renowned Spanish-American bandleader and violinist, famous for bringing Latin rhythms to mainstream American music. In addition to his musical talents, Cugat was also a talented caricature artist, creating playful portraits of his celebrity friends and fellow musicians, and his influence on Latin music in the U.S. is still celebrated today. Professionally mounted with creme mat and gold gilt frame with hardware for hanging. Measuring 26 x 30.25 x .75 in. Exhibiting age and handling. In very good to fine condition.
