Oliver Hardy "Ollie" Suit from Air Raid Wardens

Air Raid Wardens, 1943, MGM. Vintage (2) piece navy blue wool suit including 1-single-breasted jacket with notched lapel, 1-chest slash and 2-hip slash pockets, and button front closure (the top one false with a hidden hook-and-eye closure), interior lined in navy blue satin and retaining internal Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio stamp, "M-G-M / Wardrobe," with handwritten "Hardy" on interior creme sleeve lining, and with 1-pair matching navy wool pleated trousers, retaining interior studio stamp "M-G-M / Wardrobe," and studio bias label with handwritten, "O. Hardy / 1282 5751 52 30 1/2." The production number 1282 corresponds to Air Raid Wardens. This suit dates from Laurel and Hardy's brief tenure at MGM, which produced only two films. Laurel and Hardy costumes from any period are extremely rare at auction. Exhibiting production wear and age. In very good condition. Provenance: Originally purchased at the 1970 MGM auction and/or tag sale.
