“Mr Hockey” Gordie Howe played in an incredible 23 NHL All-Star Games. His first in 1948 wearing #11, then #14 in 1949 In 1950 he wore his home whites for Cup Champion Detroit faceing the All-Stars. This particular All-Star Game replica jersey is from the 1951 and the first time he wore an All-Star jersey with his trademark #9. Howe was entering his 6th season and was already a super star, maybe the best in the game. The 1951 All-Star Game had a unique format with the First Team All-Stars augmented with star players from the American based clubs against the Second Team All-Stars reinforced with and . It was a 2-2 tie with Howe scoring the first goal on a power play. Howe had the record for most goals in All-Star games with 10 until surpassed by Wayne Gretzky.
