Don Saleski was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1969, 6th round, 64th overall from the Regina Pats of the SJHL. He made his debut in January 1972, and quicky established himself as a force to be reckoned with when he racked up a career high of 205 penalty minutes in his NHL rookie season. This heavy mesh photo matched jersey that Saleski wore during the 1977-78 season, sports the Barry Ashbee patch the Flyers wore after the tragic death of their teammate in May 1977. Size large in the collar with an amazing amount of washed-out blood stains covering the lower white hem as well a couple more on the right arm below the numbers. All original with a huge name plate, the back numbers show areas with small pin holes where the numbers were held in place to be sewn, a well-known Flyers trait. The large numbers on the back show signs of washing and have darkened from use. The jersey shows really nice wear to both arm numbers and is matched to both sides of those identifiers. On the left side, the numbers are not sewn evenly and show nice fraying and loose threads. On the right side, the numbers show heavy fraying along with several loose threads which is where the second match is found. Both photo matches are found on the same Getty Image #83249990 The inside shows amazing wear to both sleeve ends with sweat spots covering the black area. Beautiful garter belt fight strap sewn in to this incredible and hard to find enforcers jersey from a well-known Flyers Broad Street Bully. This set of jerseys with the memorial patch are always highly sought after by Flyers and vintage collectors alike. Grab this one to add to your collection. Don Saleski played eight seasons in the NHL, 543 games, scoring 128 goals,125 assists and 629 penalty minutes. The bulk of his career from 1969–1977 was with the Philadelphia Flyers, including their Stanley Cup winning teams of 1973-74 and 1974-75. He played the final two seasons of his career (1978–1979) with the . He was named Vancouver Canucks radio color commentator prior to the 1982-83 season and remained in that position through the 1986-87 season. In April 1976, Don Saleski along with three other players from the Philadelphia Flyers were arrested and charged with assault stemming from the Leafs-Flyers quarter-finals series. He was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, a hockey stick and assaulting a policeman. Charges were eventually dropped.
